Prints / Mind Your Head
A commission to produce an archive of Craig Dunain psychiatric hospital, before it’s closure in 2000. ‘The Craig’ played a significant role in the culture of the Highlands and Islands. Having been threatened with it many times at school in Portree, I finally made it there to create this archive book full of remarkable stories from the pioneering to the absurd.
All prints were linocuts, reflecting the use of linoleum in the hospital. ‘Blow’ was even inked from the corridor floor - in front of a crowd of bemused onlookers - and shows the ghostly impressions from generations of stiletto heels passing through.
